With childlike delight and a deeply rooted focus on quality, creativity has accompanied me throughout my life—from a crocheted hairband as a five-year-old, to watercolors in Rome during my youth, to textile art in my studio in Stockholm. For me, handicrafts are a way of being, of discovering, and of entering a state of undivided focus.

From an early age, I was drawn to anything that sparked my creative urge and imagination. As early as age 10, I was sewing my own clothes, and over time, I deepened my skills through an internship at a tailor’s shop and studies in patternmaking and cutting at the Stockholm Tailoring Academy. My degree from the Stockholm School of Economics gave me the freedom to choose my own, somewhat unconventional path. That freedom led me to Italy, a place that still shapes who I am today.

A previous trip was instrumental in my decision to study design in Rome at KOEFIA, where I studied fashion illustration and fashion history. In Rome, I discovered not only a sensual zest for life through aesthetics and music. In my role as an assistant to Fendi’s leadership team—Anna Fendi and Karl Lagerfeld—I also developed a keener eye for quality in that elite environment, characterized by creativity, innovation, and strict discipline. Win or disappear. After three years in Rome and Milan, I returned to Stockholm and, as the fashion-focused buying manager, was tasked with transforming NK’s Boutique into NK Designers.

During my most intense working years, my own creativity ended up in a cold winter hibernation. I became an efficient and results-oriented workaholic with neither the time nor the desire to create anything myself. My imagination was stifled and my passion faded.

The world felt colorless, but a sense of longing took over. I decided to search for that inner light, that spark of life I remembered from my exciting life in Rome. I wrote and painted, and eventually my creative drive and joy returned. My creativity moved from painting to free-form sewing: patchwork pillows and quilts, a funeral runner for my father’s funeral, and tapestries. I found my way home again, to my inner joyful space. My sewing, painting, and writing all emerge organically as I sew, paint, or write.

My textile work often begins with a spirit of discovery: a color palette or a fabric with something that sparks my imagination. From there, the piece takes shape step by step. I select, add to, color, sew, unpick, and resew until the pieces fall into place and a unique harmony emerges.

That’s where I feel most at home: immersed in the rhythms of my favorite music, with a tingle of excitement as my eyes and hands search for color combinations and shapes. That’s where I find joy and vitality. Feel free to reach out with your thoughts, questions, or if you’re interested in purchasing my work or collaborating.
